Quick answer

Approved references show up as a References tab on the applicant detail view, next to the resume and cover letter. They are visible only to employers the job seeker has applied to. References do not appear in resume search.

Where to find references

When you open an applicant from the Manage Applicants page, the applicant detail view shows tabs for their documents: Resume, Cover Letter, and any additional content that came with the application. If the applicant has approved references, a References tab appears alongside the others.

If the applicant has no approved references, the References tab is not shown.

What each reference shows

Each reference includes:

The reference contact's email address and phone number are not shown.

How references reach you

Job seekers request references from people they have worked with. The contact receives an email, writes a short statement, and submits it. Only references the contact has approved are shared with employers.

References travel with the applicant's job application. An employer who has not received an application from a job seeker cannot see their references, including through resume search.

A job seeker can delete any of their references at any time. Once deleted, the reference disappears from all applications, including applications already submitted to your jobs.
